Biman fly into final

Elias Sunny's solo performance took Bangladesh Biman to the final of the Public University & Service cricket tournament after a facile 65-run win over Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) at the Jahangirnagar University ground yesterday.

However the national airliner will find out their final opponents today after the Dhaka University-Jahangir-nagar University semifinal will continue at the BKSP after it was interrupted by rain.

But it was the southpaw Sunny who hogged the limelight, slamming a century in Biman's 232-8 in 50 overs. He struck ten boundaries in his almost run-a-ball 102. Mofizur Rahman, who took Sunny's wicket, finished with three for 33.

Sunny also starred with the ball, picking up three wickets as BUET struggled against their more illustrious opponents. Sanwar Hossain, the former Bangladesh player, took four for 37 from his six overs.

In BKSP, Jahangirnagar University were placed comfortably after reducing Dhaka University to nine for 2 from three overs. Asadul Habib and Tasamul Haq will continue batting today against a rampant Jahangirnagar side, who racked up 232-8 from 50 overs.

Shafiul Azam was the top scorer, hitting 80 off 120 balls. He found good support from Khaled Mosharraf, who made 63. For Dhaka University, Abul Bashar picked up four wickets.
