  Biman bag title

An all-round performance by Tushar Imran enabled Bangladesh Biman to clinch the Public University & Services Cricket title outplaying Jahangirnagar University by six wickets in the final at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.

National cricketer Tushar Imran and GK Ashique grabbed three wickets each for 10 and 11 runs respectively to restrict Jahangirnagar University at 111 for all in 38.3 overs after they were put to bat first.

Amid the batting debacle, opener Shafiul Azam fought bravely for the University team scoring match highest 65 runs off 110 balls with six fours.

Hasanul Banna (21) and Hasan Zico (14) were the only other JU batsmen who reached double figures.

In reply, national flag carrier Biman easily reached their target scoring 116 runs in 24.3 overs for the loss of four wickets, despite losing three early wickets for 22 runs in 7.1 overs.

After the dismissal of top three batsmen -- Ali Faiyas (4), Elias Sunny (8) and Javed Omar (4), Tushar Imran partnering with captain Sanwar Hossain repaired the early damage scoring 59 runs in the 4th wicket stand.

Number four batsman Tushar, who earlier grabbed three wickets, also contributed team highest 34 runs off 39 balls with five fours and a six to be adjudged man of the match.

Captain Sanwar Hossain scored not out 31 runs off 48 balls with two fours while Mushfiqur Rahman made not out 19 off 21 balls with one four and a six.

New ball bowler Ali Hossain captured two wickets for 16 runs while Fariduddin and Hasanul Banna took one wicket apiece.
